her Competition Coach certification. Mandi is the first swim coach in
Canada to certify as NCCP Competition Coach since the new certification

10 year old Catalina swimmer Kristen Trepanier's time of 1 hr 18.36 minutes put her at the TOP of the Result Sheet for all Canadian 10 year olds who participated! Guys or Girls! There were also seven other Catalina Swimmer's whose times placed them up with the Top 10 recorded times in the country for their respective age groups: Emma MacDermaid, Emma Smith, Lainie Wareham, Alana Skocdopole, David Errington, Nicole Cossey and Bryan Iliscupidez. The complete Catalina contingent of swimmers came off looking very strong especially in the very competitive 13, 14 and 15 year old divisions. Way to go Swimmers! |

_Catalina National group swimmer Alana Skodopole, had
a phenomenal finish to her 2009 Cross Country Running season by placing
first in a time of 12:05 at the ASAA (Alberta School Athletic
Association) Provincial XC Championship. Alana was representing her
Stettler school, W.E. Hay High School.
In the same event, Catalina team mate, Rebecca Miller placed 19th out of the 119 Zone level qualified Junior Women. Her time was 13:28 in the 3000 m event that was run in Wetaskiwin on October 17. Becky was representing her school, Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School. Way to go girls! Congratulations! _Five Catalina Members have been selected for the 2009/2010 Provincial Stroke Camps!! _Catalina swimmers Alana Skodopole and Rebecca Miller proved that some swimmers can run as well as swim with some pretty impressive results at the Central Alberta School’s Athletic Association X-country Running Zone Finals held at the Peace Hills Park on October 7!
In theJunior Girls 3000 m event, Alana continued her winning season by placing first with her Catalina team mate, Rebecca following closely with a fourth place finish. Both have qualified to compete in the ASAA Provincials which will be held October 17. Congratulations to both swimmers and Good Luck from your Catalina Team Mates at XC Provincials on October 17! _Swim Alberta Youth Recognition Awards for 2009 LC Season (posted 08SEP2009)
_Swim Alberta recently announced the final list of Youth Recognition Award Recipients for the 2009 LC Season. Three Catalina swimmers, Emma MacDermaid, Breana Menzel and David Errington,
received their T-shirts to acknowledge this achievement at a
presentation ceremony held at the Provincial Championships back in June.
This program is set up by Swim Alberta to provide awards and
recognition to age group swimmers who achieve qualifying standards based
on Canadian and Provincial listings (TAG and TAS).
Emma MacDermaid and Breana Menzel received their T-shirts for meeting the Time Standards for TOP 5 in Alberta (10 & under), while David Errington achieved a Canadian TOP 25. This is an annual award and the Time Standards can be found on the Swim Alberta website: http://www.swimalberta.ca/year-round-swimmers/youth-recognition-2.htm Congratulations to Emma, Breana and David! _Catalina Club Records Fall at Alberta LC Provincials! (posted 08SEP2009)_June saw six Catalina records fall at this year's Alberta LC Provincials.
Breana Menzel broke all three distances records for 10 & under Breaststroke including one set by Andrea Kells in 2000! Breana also teamed up with fellow Catalina swimmers Kirsten Trepanier, Emma MacDermaid and Michelle Wu to set a new 10 and under 200 MR record. Not to be out done, the Catalina 13/14 yr old girls team of Sarah Broen, Brianna Bailey, Amy Andrew and Halle Loyek broke the club record in the 400 MR. On the boys side, David Errington lowered the record he had set earlier in the season in the 50 Breaststroke. |
